Marie "Rose" Plaisance Vedros, 98, a native and resident of Raceland, died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church in Raceland, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by two grandsons, Edmond A. Vedros Jr. and Joey J. Vedros Sr.; three great-grandchildren, Patricia Schultz, Angel Pertuit and Joey J. Vedros Jr.; three great-great-grandchildren, Harvey Pertuit III, and Lane and Landon Pertuit; Melissa Melancon Williams, who she raised as her own, and David Leon Ross, both being children of Mamie Melancon Ross Krewson, who she raised as her own, and Melissa's two children, Rose Williams and Billy Ray Williams Jr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alcide Joseph Vedros; one son, Edmond A. Vedros Sr.; her parents, Millien and Nola Bernard Plaisance; four sisters, Manola Bourg, Clara Dempster, Elveria Parks and Laura Maura; five brothers, Anatole, Noah, Millien Jr., Albert, and Charles Plaisance; Mamie Melancon Ross Krewson and Mamie's son William Joseph Ross.
She was a former parishioner of St. Mary Nativity Church.
