Our mother, Maria Del Carmen Zeringue, was born June 30, 1954 and sadly passed on May 2, 2023 at the age of 68.
Some may know her as Ms. Maria or Ms. Carmen, to us she was the strongest person in the world.
She grew up in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz and persevered through a tough childhood and early adulthood. All of which taught her how to work hard to get what you want out of life. Our community in Raceland knew this and could see how hard our mom worked to make ends meet by canning and selling produce from her vehicle road side. She would buy from local farmers and home gardeners then create delicious fresh canning items.
Her greatest skill was that she made friends easily and people enjoyed talking to her. She often joked that she could make friends with a stick on the road.
She was a woman with so much love to give but did not have enough time to share it all before her passing. We are grateful for everything we learned from her and hope to become stronger like her as well.
She is survived by her children, Markku DeJesus Gonzalez, Dominique Marie Quinn, Kendra Lynn Zeringue, and her 5 grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Simon Joseph Zeringue Jr. Her father Bonifacio Gonzalez, and her mother Rosa Maria Cruz Ramirez.
Falgout Funeral Home is honored to serve the Zeringue family.
