Mae Rita Melancon Plaisance

Mae Rita “Mary” Marie M. Plaisance, 91, a native of Cut Off and a resident of Cut Off, died on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to funeral time Friday, March 21, 22025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off. Mass will be held at 12 p.m., at the church with a burial in Cheramie Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughter Deborah Landry and husband Donald, daughter Patty Bradberry, Son Eves Plaisance III and wife Angie. Grandchildren Rebecca Stubbert (Bryan), Jamie Mahler (Lyle Sr.), Philip Landry (Amy), Keara Plaisance Adams (Scotty), and Tony Plaisance. Great Grandchildren: Reid Stubbert, Hazel Stubbert, Odile Stubbert, Lyle Mahler Jr., Landon Mahler, Ava Landry, and Parker Adams, and sister Jane Foster.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eves Plaisance Jr.; parents Theogene B. Melancon and Marguerite Cheramie Melancon; brothers, Edward, Theogene Jr. (TJ), Tilman, Jimmy, Johnny Sr., Jack, and sister Emily Melancon; Foster-sister Doris Williams.

She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, and a member of the Ladies Alter Society, Assistant (PSR) religion teacher, Extraordinary Minister.

She loved to garden and sew and was an avid reader.
