Lydie Zeringue Champagne, 95, a native of Waggaman and a resident of Luling, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 10:00 am on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at St Anthony Catholic Church, Luling, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday with burial to follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Luling, LA.
She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Mason (Bill), Lydia Champagne, Nedra C. Weaver (John); grandchildren, Kenton Mason, Thomas Weaver, Katherine Weaver and step grandson, Bill Mason III. Also survived by several great and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stanley Champagne; parents, Alfred and Athanasie Zeringue; daughter, Rylma Champagne; brothers, John and Henry Zeringue; sisters, Lucy Zeringue, Mathilde Berthelot, Ella Whitney, Amelia Whitney, Annette Zeringue and Thelma Vicknair.
Lydie was a fabulous cook, seamstress and home maker who spent many peaceful hours in her garden and loved flowers, especially roses. She became a licensed florist, which fulfilled her lifetime dream.
