Lydia St. Romain Hitt, 86, a native and resident of Raceland, was entrusted to God's loving care Friday, May 24, 2013, at her home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her sons, Paul Hitt Jr. and wife, Pinky, Craig Hitt and wife, Gwen, and Claude Hitt and wife, Kathy; daughters, Cindy Dufrene and husband, T-Bob, Nancy Dupre and husband, Elward, Lydia Bates and husband, Chris, Myrtle Keller and husband, John, and Kelly Oncale and husband, Mike; Sister, Rita Robichaux and husband, Tommy; brothers, Martin St. Romain and wife, Gwen and Richard St. Romain and wife, Sandra; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hitt; parents, Martin St. Romain and Rita Guidry St. Romain; son, Martin Hitt; sisters, Wanda Hitt, and Myrtle and Pansy St. Romain; and one granddaughter, Baby Rosebud Hitt.
Lydia was a parishioner of St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society. She worked as a registered nurse and was a volunteer at Lafourche Juvenile Justice and the Raceland Food Bank.
