Lula Mae M. Auenson, 75, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, passed away on June 26, 2021 surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be from 8:30 am until 11:00 am on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, Golden Meadow, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Carol J. Auenson; daughter, Jamie A. Liner; son, Jody M. Auenson and his wife Dawn C. Auenson; granddaughters, Ashley Liner, Alexis Liner, Maci Auenson and Maddie Auenson; great granddaughter, Alee Mae Liner; brother, Charles Mills; her pet CoCo and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bertha O. Mills; sister, Barbara Gaspard; in-laws, Medric “Spud” and Hazel B. Auenson; sister-in-law, Jo Ann Bailey; brother-in-law, Louis “Butch” Danos and goddaughter, Donna G. Crosby.
Lula was employed by the town of Golden Meadow for 20 years, served on the South Lafourche Levee District for 23 years and many other committees. She unselfishly gave her time to the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts for many years.
She was best known as “Peanut” to friends and Mome to family. She was an avid fisherette, basketball player and enjoyed spending time with her family and playing cards with her friends. Lula will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
