Lorena Rogers Griffin, 94, a native of Gheens and a resident of Lockport, peacefully passed away at 1:26 p.m. on Oct. 11, 2012.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. funeral time on Saturday at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following the visitation, with a burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by one sister, Irene Rogers Arcement. She was the God-Mother of Leroy Arcement, Betty B. Edwards, Mary Lee D. Cortez and Junior Dufrene.
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews lovingly known to all of them as "Nanan".
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Griffin; her parents, Leon and Emily Gautreaux Rogers, two sisters, Earline Rogers Dominique, and Lonise Rogers Breaux.
She was also preceded in death by a nephew, Milton "MJ" Dominique, Jr.; and a great niece, Nikki Adams Garner.
She was a member of the V.H. Boudreaux Senior Citizens Center for 34 plus years. She enjoyed meeting family and friends at the Center as well as making handmade quilts. She and seven other members of the center made over 1000 quilts. She loved music and dancing. She also loved to work in her flowers. Her strong faith was a very important part of her life and brought her comfort.
Lorena Rogers Griffin was a parishioner of Holy Savior Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Altar Society for 60 plus years.
Special thanks to all of her nieces, nephews, and family members, sitters, The Broadway Elder Living and Rehabilitation Staff and Journey Hospice for the loving care given to her.
She was loving, caring and compassionate. She will be sadly missed by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.
