Lois Toups Crosby, a native of Galliano, LA and a resident of Raceland, LA, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at the age of 86.
Visitation will be from 8:30 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Galliano, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with burial to follow in Cheramie Cemetery, Galliano, LA.
Lois was a direct descendant of the well-known Bayou L’ours family of Cut Off and enjoyed her life learning to live off the land from her father, Octave Toups (deceased) and learning to cook and sew from her mother, Mable Toups (deceased).
Lois was a dedicated school teacher having taught in the Lafourche Parish School System for 30 years. She also enjoyed dancing, traveling, going to festivals, playing cards, and motorcycle riding.
She also was a women of deep faith and revered the Holy Eucharist.
The last several years of Lois’ life was shared with Raymond Toups and his family, RayLee & Bonnie Toups, Stacey & Todd Pertuit and their children.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Octave and Mable Toups; brother, Johnny Toups; husband Larry Crosby; daughter, Marla Saia.
Lois is survived by companion, Raymond Toups; daughter, Sheila McCann (Paul); son Vhores Trosclair, III (Chera Kee); son-in-law, Joe Saia, Jr.
Grandchildren, Ralph Saia, Jeremy Saia, Frank Vernon, Mindy Swager, Cole Trosclair and five great grandchildren.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
