Lionel J. Lagarde, Sr., 91, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until 11:00 am on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Larose, LA. A Military Service will be held at 10:00 am and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with burial to follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
He is survived by his sons, Lionel Lagarde Jr. (Juanita), Toby Lagarde (Tanya) and Wesley Lagarde Sr. (Mitzi); grandchildren, Lyle Lagarde, Jesse Lagarde (Angelle), Lee Lagarde (Beth), Danielle Cheramie (Russ), Desi Lagarde, Wesley Lagarde Jr., Macy Lagarde (fiance’ Kalie), Jole’ Guidry, Joel Plaisance, Jacob Plaisance, Jeremy Lagarde, and Jerrica Lagarde; great grandchildren, Frankie, Lennie, Kate, Luke, Thomas, Ben, Charlotte, Roddy John, Jack, Brynn; sisters, Marion Claudel (Paul Sr.), June Hermann (Paul Jr.), Nora Orgeron (Ronald), Dora Topham (Lee) and sister-in-law, Joyce Lagarde (Ralph).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Orgeron Lagarde; parents, J.T. (Pete) and Juliette (Mim) Boudreaux Lagarde; brothers, Roland Lagarde, Ralph Lagarde; sister, Helen Hendrix (Walter); sister-in-law, Ruth Lagarde; son, Joel Lagarde and grandchild, Demi Lynn Lagarde.
He was a charter member of VFW Post 8538, Larose, LA. He served on the Board of South Louisiana Memorial Veterans District Ward 10. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served directly under Gen. Douglas McArthur in Japan during the Korean Conflict.
