Linton Joseph Doucet

January 17, 1932 — April 2, 2020

Linton Joseph Doucet, 88, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, passed away on April 2, 2020.
Linton is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Helen Chiasson Doucet; sons Mark Doucet (Anne) and Gene Doucet (Thom); daughters Elizabeth Reagan (Cary) and Roxanne Bruce (Nathan); sisters Audrey Plaisance (Calvin) and Peggy Duet (John); grandchildren Kelly Alario (Jason), Ethan Bruce and Jonathan Bruce; great-grandchildren Matthew Alario and Evan Alario, as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends.
Linton was preceded in death by his parents Etienne and Pomella Doucet; son Kim Doucet; brothers Herman Doucet and Leroy Doucet; sisters Mary Lou Jambon and Eloise Cheramie.
Linton lived a long, happy life filled with many exciting experiences. He was an exceptional athlete at Golden Meadow High School who helped bring the football and basketball teams to many victories. Soon after graduation, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. Linton returned to his hometown of Golden Meadow and married Helen. He worked for Texaco for over 30 years, and he served as a Town Alderman for 32 years. Linton loved to draw cartoons and even designed several logos. He was active in the American Legion Anthony Griffin Post 259. Linton was instrumental in the creation and development of the South Lafourche Veteran’s Memorial District and served as President of the Board.
Because of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, a private burial will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. A public memorial service will be held at a later date. The Doucet family thanks all who have offered sympathy and prayers.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to either Wounded Warriors or Tunnel to Towers Charities.
