Lester J. Matherne, 92, a native and resident of Des Allemands passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017.
Visitation will be held at St. Gertrude Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 6th from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will resume on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow.
Lester is survived by his son, Audie J. Matherne (Denise); daughter, Catherine Matherne (Douglas); sister, Betty Champagne; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Lester was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Danos Matherne; parents, Hypolite and Clementine Folse Matherne; brothers, Eloie , George, Maurice and Eddie; sisters, Elma, Thelma, Velma and Bessie.
Lester was a member of Local 60 for 45 plus years. He was an avid trawler, fish net maker and net repairman.
