Leona Troxler Picard, peacefully ended her long journey of 97 years here on earth on November 23, 2017, entering into eternal rest in the early morning hours, at Ormond Nursing and Care Center.

She is survived by her son, William "Billy" Picard II; daughter, Lenita St. Amant (Dennis); son-in-law, Ronald Growl; Granny to her grandchildren, Rennie, Rhitt and Richard Growl, Robyn Tregre, Dara Fonseca and Rustin "Bruiser" St. Amant; step grandchildren, Sherry Crosby, Trina Germany and Jennifer Matthews; 9 great grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Richard "Dick" Picard; daughter, Roberta Growl; daughter-in-law, Patricia Picard; parents, Hobson and Bernadette Troxler; sisters, Dorothy McJunkins and Sylvia "Sibby" Hanson.

Leona was born and raised in Luling, formerly lived in Killona (Waterford), Hahnville and Luling, and the last 3 years resided at Ormond Nursing and Care Center. She retired from the St. Charles Parish School System, volunteered as a Pink Lady at St. Charles Parish Hospital, member of the Busy Bees, Grand Marshall of the Krewe of Lul Parade (2003) and a member of Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxillary. She enjoyed traveling, playing Po Ke No, watching sports (avid LSU fan) and spending time with family and friends.

Special thanks to Father Bernard Francis for the many years of friendship and all of the blessings; staff of Ormond Nursing and Care Facility, especially her personal caregivers, and St. Catherine Hospice for the care and compassion provided.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hahnville, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with burial to follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Taft, LA.

In lieu of flowers, masses preferred or donations to the charity of your choice.
