Laurie John Callais

Laurie John Callais, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 7:05 p.m. He was a native of Golden Meadow and a resident of Larose, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Thursday, June 23, 2022 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Laurie is survived by his son, Timmy J. Callais and wife, Margaret; daughter, Loretta Callais Orgeron and companion, Lane Toups; brother, Charlie Callais; grandchildren, Kristy Chouest and husband, Bo, Roddy Bellanger and wife, Brooke, Ty Orgeron and wife, Morgan, Olivia Constantin and husband, Julien, and Emily Arceneaux and husband, Allen; and great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Chouest, Lane Chouest, Baden Bellanger, Emerson “Emmy” Bellanger, Alania David Orgeron, and Aria Constantin.

Laurie was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Gertrude Crosby Callais; parents, Didier and Clarica Doucet Callais; brother, Maurice Callais; sister, Nerline C. Landry; and in-laws, Urbin “Pado” and Marie Matherne Crosby.

Laurie was a US Army Korean Veteran. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 315, Veterans Memorial Wall, Knights of Columbus – 4th Degree Knight, and the Holy Name Society at Holy Rosary Church.
