Larry Griffin

Larry Griffin, 83, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 29, 2024.

Larry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Myrna Crosby Griffin; children, Mary G. Dupre (Earl), Lori G. Comeaux, Dwayne Griffin (Gina); grandchildren, Brynn Comeaux, Dane Griffin, Brianna Comeaux, Jake Dupre, Drew Griffin (Emily), Todd Dupre (Hannah), Dari Griffin Dufrene (Regan) and Trey Comeaux (Giovanna); 2 great- grandchildren, Rosie and Cullen Brady; sister, Nancy Lasseigne and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Paul Sr. and Norcelia Griffin; son-in-law, T-Mel Comeaux and a sister and numerous brothers.

Larry was the longest-serving port commissioner for the GLPC. He was a respected member of Masonic Lodge #427 and a Jerusalem Shriner. He brought joy to countless parade-goers as he captained a float for many years for the Krewe of Neptune. Larry was also a successful tugboat owner and an enthusiastic thoroughbred racehorse owner. His love for camaraderie extended to his lifelong love of golf and membership to Woodland West Country Club and weekly card games, where he enjoyed the company of friends and family. 

Larry leaves a legacy of dedication and service to his community, but he mostly enjoyed spending time at the Big Griff camp in Grand Isle fishing and spending holidays with family.

Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow, on Friday, August 2nd from 10AM until service time. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 noon with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
