His faith in God was instilled in him by his mother and family. Growing up he was taught living off the land by his parents and grandparents. He would sit hours with his grandparents making castnets, trawls, skinning and drying nutria. He and his best friend/brother double dipped cousin Teddy would go fishing and bring home their catch for family supper. As he became a teenager he lived his life on the boat. He would trawl with his uncle Tip and cousins. When he was around 17 he began working on tugboats under his father’s wings for several years. His father taught him everything he knew about tug life.
As the years passed Capt. Kenneth left his knowledge to so many young men he had the privilege of working with, including his three sons. Within the 30+ years of being a boat captain his name was well known throughout the boat business. Company’s he worked for respected his knowledge of the vessel, the waters and the weather. When other captains said the job was too hard, he showed them how it was done.
His first born was named after a vessel he was working on the Caressa Kay and later Seth Michael was born.
On January 1, 1999, through a mutual friend he met the love of his life Cindy, with three kids, George Bret, Debra Marie and Curtis Joseph and married her April 15, 2000. He and his wife saw no step, they were always their children.
He enjoyed car racing, making the world’s best pancakes for his family, known as the Ticklemonster by his grandchildren. The go to dad for all life’s questions from A to Z. He and his wife enjoyed scratching off their bucket list adventures, fishing and crabbing together.
He was a beloved husband, dad, grandfather and friend always willing to help others but never asked help for himself. He will forever be loved and will be deeply missed.
At this time the family would like to thank, Dwight Matherne LOS, Cut Off Clinic, TRMC, TRMC Cancer Center Institute, Dr. Scott Hebert and his staff, the nursing staff second floor, Lorris G. Towing for taking us under their wings and treating us like family throughout his journey. The love and support was deeply appreciated.
Rev. Jonah Dardar officiating.
