Joseph Frank Mickles, 63, a native of New Orleans and resident of Golden Meadow, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2011.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with interment in the church cemetery.

He is survived by two brothers, Sheldon and wife, Sharon Mickles, and Rustin and wife, Becky Mickles; two sisters, Janis and husband, Benny Hernandez, and Rosa Harris; two aunts, Annie Lee Leger and Leona Boudreaux; nephews, Kyle and wife, Angela, Andrew, and Joshua Mickles, and Blake Hernandez; nieces, Brianne Mickles and husband, Ory Loupe, and Kathline Harris; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by one son, Brooke Mickles; his parents, Anthony and Earline Doucet Mickles; grandparents, Joseph and Rosa Cheramie Doucet, and Frank and Hilda Mickles; one brother-in-law, Brian Harris; one uncle, Nolan Doucet; and two aunts, Iona Dupre and Rosa Doucet.

Mr. Mickles was a graduate of Golden Meadow High School and attended Nicholls State in Thibodaux. He grew up working with his grandfather and uncle at Joe Doucet and Son Trawl Boards in Golden Meadow. He was a newspaper carrier in the Lafourche area for The Advocate in Baton Rouge and an employee of Bay Super Car Wash and had recently retired from employment with the Town of Golden Meadow.

Mr. Mickles was currently serving on the following boards/committees: Chairman of the Board of Adjustments of the Town of Golden Meadow, Chairman of the Board of The Planning and Zoning Commission of the Town of Golden Meadow, Board member of the Lafourche Parish Recreation District 3 and a member of the Lafourche Parish Communications 911 Board. He also was a past member of the Home Rule Charter of the Parish of Lafourche in 2004.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and the fellowship of his friends and his prayer group. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
