Joseph Paul Champagne

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Joseph P. Champagne, 93, our most beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather, family member and friend passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11 am on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at St. Hilary Catholic Church, Raceland, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Raceland, LA.

He is survived by his sons, Earl Champagne (Roxanna), Joey Champagne (Marilyn “Mat”) and Roy Gros, Jr. (Andre); daughters, Kathy Kaberlein (Mike), Tammy Loupe (Maurice), Grace Griffin (Andrew), Donna Escalante and son-in-law, Foster Foran; brothers, Julien Champagne and Clifton Champagne; sister, Anne Breaux; 22 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Marie “Mary” LeBlanc Champagne; son, Eddy Champagne (Melinda); daughter, Marlene Foran; parents, Paul and Olive Champagne; sisters, Grace Champagne and Deanna Champagne Gros and grandson, Andy Griffin.

Joseph was a member of the Raceland Volunteer Fire Department and an avid gardener and cook, his specialty was “Gumbo”. 

In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred.
