John William Barker, 89, a native of New Orleans and resident of Lockport, died at 11:23 a.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2012.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Falgout Funeral Home Chapel in Lockport and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at St. Hilary Catholic Church in Mathews. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial at Resurrection Memorial Park in Mathews.
He is survived by his wife, Aline Hebert Barker; five sons, John William Barker and wife, Mary R., Alex J. Barker and wife, Josephine R., James P. Barker and wife, Ann M., Michael J. Barker and wife, Barbara L., and Patrick H. Barker and wife, Ann B.; daughter, Aline "Yogi" Matherne and husband, Jody P.; sister, Antoinette B. Lanigan; 15 grandchildren, David, Jennifer, Joseph, Lauren, Paul, Alyse, Betsy, James, Michelle, Kyle, Jacob, and Brooke Barker, Maggie B. Fontenot, Jackie M. Robichaux and John David Matherne; and one great-grandchild, Kayleigh Fontentot.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Florence Vizard Barker; two brothers, Frank L. Barker Jr. and T.M. Barker; and two sisters, Florence B. Foret and Mary Elizabeth B. LeBlanc.
He was a parishioner of St. Hilary Catholic Church.
