Jimmie Owensby, Jr.

Jimmie Owensby, Jr. departed this life on December 1, 2023 at 8:20 p.m.

He was born to the union of Daisy and Royal Stewart on January 14, 1958 in New Orleans, LA. He was a native of Grand Isle and resident of Galliano.

Jimmie graduated from Grand Isle High School. He studied at Nicholas State University and finished his academic career at Ohio State University in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Jimmie was united in holy matrimony with Carol Ann Gant on April 16, 1979. Then he married Rhonda Ann Terrebonne on August 10, 2005.

He was baptized at Buena Vista Baptist Church in Lemannville, LA.

Jimmie worked for Exxon-Mobile for thirty-eight years. After he retired from Exxon-Mobile, Jimmie went to the Diesel Academy in Baton Rouge, LA. He drove 18 wheelers cross country with Martin Transport for six years.

Jimmie’s hobbies were camping, riding his Harley with his wife, Rhonda. He loved working in the yard, playing with his tractor, and talking on the phone with his friends Jimmie also, enjoyed spending time with his mother-in-law, Mrs. Gloria Terrebonne.

He loved his furry pet dogs, Ace and Peanut. He enjoyed giving treats to his neighbor’s dogs, two labs Hank and Honey.

Jimmie loved listening to Elvis Presley music. His favorite expression was, “I’ll do it my way!”

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Rhonda; daughters, Crystal (Chinedu), Ricci, Renata; sons, Jimmie, III, Dexter, Aubrey “T-Black”; brother, Michael “Pedro”; ex-wife, Carol Araujo; 9 grandchildren; friend, Jeffery Noel and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Royal and Daisy Stewart; brother, Gilbert Seymore, Jr.

Visitation will be held at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow in Cheramie Cemetery.
