Jarred James Melancon, 31, a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of St. Gabriel, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at his home. He was born July 13, 1983.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Falgout Funeral Home, 3838 Highway 1, Raceland. A Prayer Service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at Falgout Funeral Home with burial to follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
He is survived by his parents, Albert and Dottye Melancon; wife, Kristine Melancon; daughters, Hope and Elizabeth Melancon; sister, Megan Melancon and his paternal grandmother, Hazel Melancon. Jarred also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jarred proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps based in Twenty Nine Palms, CA from 2001 – 2005. He did a tour of duty in Iraq, South Korea and the Philippines After his discharge from the marines he served a year in the Louisiana National Guard stationed in Carville, LA and was in New Orleans after Katrina from Aug 2005 – Feb 2006.
He was employed as a Security Supervisor from 2006 – 2012 at Waterford III Nuclear Power Plant. He was currently attending Baton Rouge Community College pursuing a degree in Psychology.
