James Edward Shafer

James E. “Jim” Shafer, CWO-4 (USCG Ret.), 83, a native of Warren, PA and a resident of Raceland, LA, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Falgout Funeral Home, Raceland, LA. A memorial service will be celebrated at 11:00 am at the funeral home with burial to follow in Resurrection Memorial Park Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Shafer; daughter, Angela (Woody); son, Mike (Tina); grandchildren, Derrick, Grace, Kyleigh, Caden and brother, Tom Shafer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Donna Shafer and brothers, Dave Shafer and Bill Shafer.
Jim was retired from the U.S. Coast Guard and was a member of the Warrant Officer’s Association and the American Legion. He also enjoyed working in his vegetable garden.
In lieu of flowers donations to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center or Lafourche Soccer Association preferred.
