James "J.W." Powell

James “J.W.” Powell, 79, a native of Purvis, MS and a resident of Lockport, LA, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday, August 8, 2022 at St. Hilary Catholic Church, Raceland, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with burial to follow in Holy Savior Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife Darlene Dufrene Powell; daughters, Paula Comeaux and Kelly Matherne (Don); son, Eric Powell (Connie); grandchildren, Heather (Dean), Hayley (Charles), Blaine (Lauren), Janie (Jacob), Austin, Triston and Savannah (Jake); great grandchildren, Laine, Holden, Marlee, Carter, Colton, Carson, Gracie, Reid and Weston; sister, Barbara Freeman; mother-in-law, Willie Mae Dufrene and sister-in-law, Janis Giroir (Terry).
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine Allemand Powell; parents, Fred and Lillian Powell; sister, Charlotte Sibley; father-in-law, C.J. Dufrene and brother-in-law, Randy Dufrene.
He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and was a jack of all trades. He loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed.
