Irene Marie Cavalier Aucoin, born August 10, 1919, in Pierre Part, LA. A resident of Des Allemands, LA, died on June 14, 2017. She was 97 years old. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Murphy "Mike" Joseph Aucoin; father, Frank Cavalier, Sr.; mother, Euranie Rodrigue Cavalier; brothers, Herbert, Dave, Frank Jr., Ulysse Cavalier; sisters, Una Breaux, Isabelle Lunk; son, Jimmey Aucoin, Sr.; daughters, Rosemary Fonseca, Doris Tait, Lucy Ramsey and great-great granddaughter, Parker Luquet.
She is survived by her siblings, Sterling, Albert Sr., Alvin, Ivy Cavalier, Sr. and Alice Garcia; children, Betty Cortez of Des Allemands, LA, Michael Aucoin and wife, Wendy of Luling, LA.; 17 grandchilden, Shelia Southard, Randy Fonseca, Tammy Becnel, Angel Reyna, Donald Powell, Jay Powell, Sherie Chandler, Daile Tait, Pamela Baker, Stacey Engel, Jimmy Aucoin, Jr., Cody Aucoin, Lainie Aucoin, Britney Hernandez, Macey Peterson, Mason Aucoin, Austin Aucoin; 31 great grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands, LA. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until 11:00 am followed by Christian burial in the church cemetery.
The family would like to extend special thanks to all of her caretakers.
