Inez Talbot

d. May 11, 2013

A native and lifelong resident of Raceland, Inez Bourgeois Talbot, was born May 11, 1919, and passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, May 15, 2013. She was the eighth of 10 children born to Wilfred and Olesia Robichaux Bourgeois. She married Cullen "Slim" Talbot in June of 1938. She considered her life complete with the birth of her only child, Geralyn "Jay" in November of 1956.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Monday at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland. A prayer service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
She is survived by her devoted and loving daughter, Geralyn "Jay" Talbot and her fiance Freddie Stuart Jr.; her beloved grandson, Cody O. Wheaten; her best friend and youngest sister, Corine B. Pitre; and her two cats T-Girl and T-Boy Talbot.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Bourgeois; sisters, Mae B. (Gus) Theriot, Una B. (Ferdinand) Robichaux, Nootsy B. (Merille) Foret, Ida B. (Mick) Sampia and Vera B. (Dalmas) Danos; an infant sister, Sadie Bourgeois; brothers, Jessie (Evelyn) Bourgeois and George (Lorraine) Bourgeois; and brother–in-law, Norman "Poonie" Pitre.
Inez was a homemaker who absolutely loved to cook, bake and feed everyone. She enjoyed hosting get-togethers for her sisters and brothers, as well as many parties for Geralyn during her school days. She especially loved to surprise family and friends by baking them one of her famous lemon, banana, pineapple, coconut or Peter Paul Mounds cakes for their birthdays or anniversaries.
In earlier years, Inez was the Raceland News correspondent for the Daily Comet. She loved music, dancing and most of all, people. Inez will always be remembered for her vibrant personality, very often sprinkled with uncensored words that would make most people blush. She was very thoughtful and possessed a genuine care for others. Inez never met a stranger; all became her instant friends.
She was a devoted Catholic and parishioner of St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church and a past member of the Ladies Altar Society.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Geralyn would love to acknowledge the wonderful and compassionate care provided to her mother by her wonderful sitters, Lil' Dago, Chanel Lewis, Sherry Lirette, Mandy Rogers and Ann Thibodeaux; Journey Hospice, especially Susan; Thibodaux Regional Healthcare, especially, Johnna and Jenny; STAT Home Health, especially Denise Matherne; ER staff of Ochsner St. Anne Hospital; cardio staff of Ochsner Foundation Hospital; Lafourche Council on Aging, especially Nakita Wheaten,; and faithful family friends, Dolores and Benny Foret and Shirley and Ivy Foret.
Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
