Hubert Joseph Baye, 89, a native and resident of Raceland, was entrusted to God's loving care Friday, May 24, 2013, at River Ridge.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Tuesday at St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church in Raceland. A Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Tuesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his daughters, Phyllis B. Foret and husband, Nelson Jr. and Sandra Baye; brother, Nolan Baye and wife, Alice; nephew; Joey Baye and wife, Gwen; grandchildren, Mark Foret and wife, Jeanne, and Scott Foret and wife, Kelly; great-grandchildren, Austin, Ryan, Brandon, Taylor, and Benjamin Foret.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores Theriot Baye; parents, Joseph Baye and Henrietta Bourgeois Baye; and brother, Joel Baye.
Hubert was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Maryland during World War II. He was a school bus driver for Lafourche Parish School Board before retiring. After retirement he and his wife worked for Bollinger Shipyards as custodians and cooks. He loved being on the water, fishing and trawling, and going to movies and bingo games with his daughters. He will be sadly missed by friends and family.
