Herbert J. Cheramie, Sr., 93, a native of Westwego and resident of Larose, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020.
Visitation will be held at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 22nd from 10:00 a.m. until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Herbert is survived by his sons, Ned Cheramie (Gail) and Herbert Cheramie, Jr. (Loretta); daughters, Sybil C. Navarre (Philip) and Dolly A. Cheramie; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brothers, Herman and Louis, Jr.; sisters, Julia C. Matherne, Della Mae C. Danos, Delores, C. Champagne, Della C. Pitre and Dorothy Danos.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Mae B. Cheramie; parents, Louis and Verda Brunet Cheramie; brother, Tillman Cheramie; sisters, Gladys C. Guidry.
Herbert served in the US Army. He was a member the VFW Post in Larose and was a member of the Holy Name Society of Holy Rosary.
Falgout Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
