Henry Joseph Lafont Sr., 88, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2012.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday at Falgout Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Norma Pitre Lafont; his daughter, Deanna Lafont Duet; his son, Henry J. Lafont Jr. and wife, Kim; four grandchildren, Darren Duet and wife, Lynette, Sid Duet and wife, Holly, Deanna Mary Lafont and husband, Michael Jr., Renee Comeaux and husband, Derek; six great-grandchildren, Carley, Austin, Jaelyn and Jude Duet, Anthony "AJ" Lafont and Pierce Comeaux; and one brother, Victor Lafont.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Remis Lafont and Vienne Theriot Lafont; one brother, Elie Lafont; and son-in-law, Sidney Duet.
He was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 9000 where he was a 4th Degree Knight. He was a loving husband, father and great grandfather who never met a stranger. His hobbies were reading, watching western movies and visiting with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to St. Joseph Youth Group, P.O. Box 519, Galliano, La. 70354.
