Harvey Thomas Robichaux, 85, a native and resident of Raceland, died Saturday, August 6, 2016, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 11, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland, and from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday, August 12 at St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church in Raceland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 p.m. at the church, with burial to follow in St. Mary's Mausoleum.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Mary Ann Arceneaux Robichaux; sons, Ryan Robichaux (Tammy), Dwayne Robichaux; daughters, Sharon Barras (John) and Melanie McCarthy
(Patrick); grandchildren, Ashley R. Barzar (Charles), David Robichaux, Sarah R. Brunet (Jonathan), Joshua Robichaux, Angelle Barras, Elise Barras and Andre' Barras and great grandchild, Holden Barzar; sisters, Jetie Dufrene, Fay Arceneaux, and brother Ray Robichaux.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Rita Boudreaux Robichaux; brothers, Leroy Robichaux, Roland Robichaux, Sidney Robichaux, Jr., Gerald Robichaux, and Stanley Robichaux, and nephew, Kerry Terrebonne.

Harvey was a nationally recognized leader in the field of vocational agriculture education, having brought 32 national winning teams to FFA competitions. He inspired many students to excellence in literary rally competitions in the field. He was a graduate of Raceland High School in 1948, a member of the first graduation class of F.T. Nicholls Jr. College in 1950, obtained a B.S. from LSU, in 1952, and a master's in education from LSU in 1958.

Upon returning from the U.S. Army service in the Korean War, he began his teaching career at Larose Cut Off High School in 1954. He taught at Raceland High School, and at Central Lafourche High School until retirement in 1984. He served as a member of the Lafourche Parish School Board for one term. He remained active in the Lafourche Parish Retired Teachers Association.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a charter member and past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 4761 and a member of local American Legion Post 349 and VFW Post 3665. He also served as a board member of Lafourche Parish Water District No. 1 for 28 years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central Lafourche High School FFA, 4820 Hwy. 1, Raceland, LA 70394.

The family thanks all persons involved in his care through this lengthy illness, especially he staff of The Broadway and St. Catherine's Hospice.
