Harris "Jay" Matherne, III

Harris “Jay’ Matherne III, 46, a native of Bayou Gauche and resident of Boutte passed away on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024.

 Jay is survived by his loving wife of 20 years: Melissa Dutreix Matherne; his sons: Jean-Paul Matherne and Jace Matherne; his parents: Harris Jr. and Sharon M. Matherne; his sister: Shelley Matherne Hokkanen (Eric); in-laws: Chris and Sandra Dutreix; brother-in-law: Gregory Dutreix; sister-in-law: Marcie Elliott (Sam) nephews: Drew, Adam and Royce; godchild: Alex; niece: Ava; and Paran: Duane Martinez.

Jay was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Harris Sr. and Leontine Matherne; maternal grandparents: Alden Sr. and Goldie Martinez; and Nanny: Mae Petit.

 Jay had an infectious smile, was always the life of the party and welcomed everyone with open arms. He obtained his Captains license and was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He loved his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

 Family and friends are invited to a memorial visitation on Friday, July 26th, 2024 at St. Michael the Archangel, previously St. John the Baptist in Paradis, from 10:00 am until service time. Jay's Memorial Mass will begin at 11:30 am.

 In lieu of flowers, Jay’s family asks for donations in his name to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
