Harold J. Callais, 87, a native of Cut Off and a resident of Houma, died on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until funeral time at 12 p.m. on Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off. A burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Emelia L. Callais; sons, Donald Callais and wife Mary, Ronald Callais and wife Joella, Scott Callais and wife Elizabeth Kim; six grandchildren, Todd (Michelle), Jordan, Parker, Anthony, John Callais and Crystal (Ryan) Sampey; four great-grandchildren, Riley Callais, Marley, Jared, and Matthew Sampey; brothers, Earl Callais, and Edwin Callais; sister, Gloria Curole.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Forest Callais, Sr., and Eva T. Callais; brothers, Whitney, Guy, Alcide, Charleston, and Forest Callais, Jr.; sisters, Lucille Cheramie, Lillian Curole, Hilda Callais, and Elsie Terrebonne.
He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was a World War II Navy Veteran where he received the purple heart. He was also a 3rd and 4th degree Knights of Columbus, VFW, and fisherman for 42 years.
