Hamilton “Ham” Dantin, 88, a native of Golden Meadow and a long time resident of Raceland passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022.

Visitation will be held at St. Hilary Poitiers Catholic church on Friday, February 18 from 9 AM until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Ham is survived by 2 daughters, Denise D. Matherne and husband Randy and Yvette D. Dufrene and husband Jody; 2 sons Chris A. Dantin and wife Cindy, and Durell O. Dantin and wife Kym; one brother-in-law and 3 sisters in law, 9 grandchildren, Ryan Dantin (Venita), Jennifer M. Plaisance (Barry), Sarah D. Garner (Jace), Ashley M. Adams (Eric), David Dantin (Keli), Rebecca M. Wiley (Brad), Carmen D. Folse (Matthew), Jesse Dufrene (Ellie) and Saydie Eschete (David); and 17 great-grandchildren, Paige Dantin, Brooke Dantin, Natalie Dantin, Hudson Plaisance, Parker Adams, Charlie Rae Adams, Noah Wiley, Grace Wiley, Nathan Folse, Cooper Folse, Myles Garner, Gil Garner, Samuel Dantin, Luke Dantin, Eleanor Dufrene, Penelope Dufrene, and Paul Eschete.

Ham was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Nathalie Foret Dantin; parents Victor and Victoria Dantin; brothers Archie and Earl Dantin; his in-laws O’Neil Sr. And Julie Foret and O’Neil Foret Jr.

Ham proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

Ham was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4512, Knights of Columbus 4th Degree # 1114, VFW post #3665, American Legion post #349, Raceland 40 & 8 Club, Raceland Fireman Grand Marshal Club, Wildfowl Carving Club, Cajun Heritage Club, Friends of the Library, Lafourche Parish School Board and St Mary’s Nativity Parish Council.

Ham enjoyed spending time with his family, he enjoyed traveling, listening to music, duck carving, carpentry, furniture repair and singing in the church choir.

Ham lived a remarkable life, was cherished by his family and friends, and leaves an extraordinary family to carry on his legacy
