Grace Rome Delaune, 99, of Lockport, Louisiana, gained her eternal wings peacefully surrounded by those she loved on Thursday, January 18, 2024, after having lived a full and beautiful life as the matriarch of her family.
Visitation will be held at Holy Savior Little Church, in Lockport, on Saturday, January 27th from 9 am until service time. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 am with burial to follow in the church mausoleum.
Grace was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sidney J. Delaune Jr “Tommy”; her parents, Sidonia Candies Rome and Joseph West Rome; her brothers, Ewell, Richard, George, Harold and Willie Rome; sisters, Corinne Eschette, Lillian Mayet and Dora Champagne; and son-in-law, Warren J. Arcement.
She is survived by one sister, Jean Theriot; daughters, Susan Joseph, Nancy Arcement; Dolly Becnel (Keith) and Bonnie Delaune; 13 grandchildren, Chad Joseph, Jay Joseph, Jill Joseph, Todd Arcement, Nick Arcement, Kyle Arcement, Ben Savoie, Eric Savoie, Shelly Pohlel, Brady Becnel, Andre Becnel, Kristy Rivet and April Ordoyne; 20 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Grace loved her family fiercely. If she wasn’t cooking or caring for them, she could be found praying for them, rosary-in-hand. She will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to call her Mom, Maw Maw, Aunt or friend. The family would like to thank the Lockport Police Dept., Angelique J. Torres, NP and St. Catherine Hospice for their caring services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Holy Savior Catholic Church.
