Gladys "Dolores" Erwin Whatley, 82, born in Detroit, Mich., a native of Muskogee, Okla. and 51-year-resident of Houma, completed her life's journey to eternal life at 10:55 p.m. Monday, March 5, 2012, surrounded by loving family members in her home.

Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Thursday and from 9:30 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Falgout Funeral Home in Houma. Funeral services will be held at noon Friday at the funeral home, with interment at St. Francis de Sales No. 2.

She is survived by four loving children, 12 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren; one son, Larry Page Whatley and fianceé, Maureen "Moe" Francis of Lafayette; three daughters, Darlene Whatley King and husband, Peter, of Houma, Donna Gayle Whatley Usie of Houma, and Prissy Whatley Wilson and husband, David, of Lafayette; four grandsons, Ty Page Whatley and wife, Melissa "Missy" Bergeron Whatley, of Houma, Mark Dorman King and wife, Michelle Lajunie King, of Houma, Jason Edward Wilson and wife, Kristen Kerns Wilson, of Lafayette and Master Sergeant Clay Charles Usie (U.S. Army) and wife, Tammy Burgard Usie, of Columbus, Ga.; nine grand-daughters, Staci Ann Whatley Price and husband, Jay Price, of Bourg, Kristie Jo King and fiancé, John Pierre, of Houma, Bridgette Lea Wilson Cenac and husband, Danny, of Thompsons Station, Tenn., Amy Chelle Whatley Trahan and husband, Joey, of Houma, Kayla Wilson Hardy and husband, Parry, of Lafayette, Donna Faye King of Houma, Molly Usie Tabor of Houma and Taylor Elizabeth Wilson of Lafayette; 12 great-grandsons, Chase Michael Price of Bourg, Hayden Peter Hebert of Houma, Jared Trahan of Houma, Evan Daniel Cenac of Thompsons Station, Tenn., Blake Dorman Trahan of Houma, Brennan Douglas Trahan of Houma, Carsyn Matthew Price of Bourg, Lucas Daniel Cenac of Thompsons Station, Tenn., Koen David Taylor Wilson of Lafayette, Jackson Christopher Wilson of Lafayette, Asher Matthew Sutton of Houma and Gauis Michael Sutton of Houma; and 12 great-granddaughters, Brittany Margaret Whatley of Houma, Breanna Page Whatley of Houma, Erika Jo Hebert of Houma, Kirstin Elizabeth Usie of Columbus, Ga., Kaitlyn "Katie" Whatley of Houma, Randi Gayle Usie of Columbus, Ga., Kylie Paige King of Houma, Remy Isadora Hardy of Lafayette, Emmi Faye King of Houma, Anna Catherine Trahan of Houma, Vivian Lea Cenac of Thompsons Station, Tenn., and Esmee' Delilah Hardy of Lafayette. Her extended family includes Randy Charles Usie of Houma and Ann Carol Talbot of Houston.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dorman Page Whatley of Houma; father, Donald Irwin of Muskogee, Okla.; stepfather, Russell Barnes of Vivian; mother, Gladys Williams Barnes of Vivian; and grandson, Clint Michael Usie of Houma.

She will be remembered as a devout Christian, loyal friend, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and the epitome of an American homemaker.

Mrs. Whatley was a noble citizen and a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. As a member of First Baptist Church of Houma for 51 years, she served as Sunday school teacher, membership greeter, choir member, and ukulele band member. She exemplified servitude and the American spirit by sharing her time and talents throughout the community through various charitable venues.
