Gladys Marie Guidry Pellegrin, 86, a native of Pointe-aux-Chenes and resident of Chauvin died at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg. The Mass will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in St. Joseph Mausoleum in Chauvin.
She is survived by five daughters, Jeanette Pellegrin Dufresne of Tallahassee, Fla., Patricia (Pat) Pellegrin Theriot and husband, Louis "L.J" Theriot, of Chauvin, Crystal Pellegrin Murphy and husband, Jim Murphy of Houston, Texas, Jenny Pellegrin Authement and husband, Ivan Authement Jr., of Chauvin and Peggy Pellegrin Alongi and husband, Sal Alongi, of Hammond; nine grandchildren, Tanya Dufresne Layton, Dawn Theriot Guy, Jill Theriot Hebert, Donna Foret, Holly Adams Catich, Sandi Authement Chauvin, Summer Authement Pinell, Daniel Savoie and Jessica Pellegrin; 17 great-grandchildren, Shaye Layton, Megan Boquet, Trey Bagley, Derick Romero, Carson Tomz, Parker Tomz, Madeline Catich, Kristen Catich, Lauren Catich, Brianna Chauvin, Chyna Chauvin, Lily Pinell, Luca Pinell, Taylor Savoie, Caleb Savoie, Mason Savoie and Connor Pellegrin.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Oris and Alice Brunet Guidry; her loving husband, Luby Paul Pellegrin; her son, Larry James Pellegrin; and brothers, Lauris Guidry and Mervin Guidry.
She was a devout parishioner of St. Anne Catholic Church in Bourg. She was a woman of faith, devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary and a true believer in the Resurrection of Life. All of her children were taught the importance of education, faith and hard work. She enjoyed praying the rosary, reading, gardening, and sewing. She died exactly the way she had lived her life, with honor and dignity. Her children will remember her for her graciousness, sacrifices and hard work. Thank you God for giving us the blessing of our dear mother, Gladys Guidry Pellegrin.
