Gillis Plaisance, 83, a native of Cut Off and resident of Galliano passed away Feb. 12, 2017. Visitation will take place at Our Lady of Prompt Succor on Feb. 14, 2017 from 9 am until service time. Funeral Mass will begin at 11 am with burial following in Cheramie Cemetery.
Mr. Gillis is survived by children, Rebecca, Yvette, James, and Ann Plaisance; brothers, Norman Sr. and Simon Plaisance; and sisters, Rose Lee and Ethel Smith.
Mr. Plaisance was preceded in death by his wife, Ione P. Plaisance; daughter, Robin Terrebonne; son, Mark Plaisance; parents, Etienne Sr. and Theresa A. Plaisance; brothers, Etienne Jr., Eddie, Raymond Sr., Gabriel, Avit, Anthony, and Gustave; and sisters, Mary Raney, Clothilde Callais, Matilda Plaisance, and Albina Plaisance.
Mr. Gillis served in the Air Force during the Korean War, enjoyed the outdoors and loved to trawl and fish. He was a retired boat captain.
