Gertrude Bruce Cheramie, 88, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, died at 11:34 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Lola Crochet and husband, Thomas Jr.; daughter-in-law, Ann Cheramie; brother, Rolly Bruce; three sisters, Mary Lou Ditta, Emma Lois Plaisance and Emelda "Pee Wee" Adams; 10 grandchildren, Ross Eymard, Tobie Eymard and wife, Jamie, Chantise Gros and husband, Kevin, Raimy Eymard and wife, Lacie, Jamie Eymard, Michelle Cheramie, Dustin Cheramie, Pepper Lynn Dunn and husband, Chase, Natural Addison and Kristen Rogers; and 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Cleo Cheramie; companion, Weber Callais; parents, Casimir and Vivian C. Bruce; son, Michael Cheramie; two sisters, Mable Magallanes and Eula Mansuy; and one great-grandchild.
She was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church and Ladies Altar Society.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
