Gertie Crochet Johnson, 102, a native and resident of Houma, passed away on Thursday, December 07, 2017.
Visitation will be held from 12 PM until service time on Saturday, December 9 at First Baptist Church in Gray. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday at the church with burial to follow at Garden of Memories in Gray.
She is survived by her 2 sons, Richard E. Johnson, Jr. and wife, Bonnie, and Barry J. Johnson and wife, Janice; 5 grandchildren, Christopher Johnson, Kim Steele, Scott Johnson, Clint Johnson, and Monique Bergeron; 14 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Johnson, Sr.; infant son, Harold E. Johnson; grandson, Richard E. Johnson III; parents, James Crochet and Alexina Price Crochet; 6 brothers, Walter, Wickief, Paul, Henry, Ernest, and Joseph Crochet; and 4 sisters, Josephine Bourg; Beatrice Trahan, Rosie Bourg, and Shirley Mae Smith.
Nanny was a beautiful person inside and out, and never had a bad word to say about anyone. God and family were the most important things in her life. She loved any and every animal that came around, and was the most selfless person you could ever meet. She will be missed so very much.
