Major George W. Mims, Jr., 76, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Raceland, died at 7:04 PM, Sunday, September 14, 2014.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 18, 2014 at St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 Thursday with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Mims; stepdaughters, Amy Matherne and husband Derace Matherne, Kay Benoit and Amber Benoit; daughter, Mary Joffre; grandchildren, Alison Matherne, Ariel Matherne, Hunter Joffre, Kaylob Benoit, Gabrielle Benoit, Abby Benoit, Landon Benoit and Kaylee Benoit.
He was preceded in death by his father, George W. Mims, Sr.; mother, Mildred Mims; son, Mike Mims; grandson, Michael John Minatra.
The family would like to thank everyone for their continuous prayers.
