Gary R. Cooper

Gary “Suzs”Richard Cooper husband to Marian L. Cooper and resident of the beautiful community of Grand Isle since 1984 has lost his well fought battle with cancer on Monday, November 6th, 2023.

Gary will have a tribute service on Tuesday, November 14th, 2023 at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano with family and friends from 9:00 am until service time. Military Honors will begin 11:00 am with procession following to his burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Mr. Gary leaves behind his supportive step family: Sandy Callais husband Mark; their children: Philippe Callais, Andrea Galjour husband CJ their children Hyden Galjour, Katja Galjour, Alissa Rodrigue child Eleanor Rodrigue, Mark Philip Callais, Jr. wife Celeste children: Wyatt Callais, Emilia Callais; and Crystal Richoux Mastrodonato; her children: Toni White husband Cody their child Ryleigh White, Dustin Mastrodonato; and Lee Richoux wife Melissa; their children: Haylee Richoux, Teddy Richoux, and Teddy’s son Joshua Richoux.

Mr. Cooper was preceded in death by his parent: Richard H. Cooper and Betty Neils Cooper whose ashes will be entombed with Gary.

Gary was a world traveler until 1984, a helicopter pilot all his life, an Army Veteran earning a Purple Heart during his service in Korea from 1966-1971 and in Vietnam from 1972-1973 and later flew in the Gulf of Mexico for IHTI until his retirement in 2009.
