Francis "Poonie" Matherne

Francis “Poonie” Matherne, 87 a native and resident of Raceland, La. passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 1, 2024 at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church from 9:00am until service time. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00am at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church with a Celebration of Life to Follow. Burial will be private at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
“Poonie” is survived by his sons Kim Matherne, John Matherne and Dean Matherne; granddaughters; Claire Marie Matherne and Taura Jolie Matherne.
“Poonie” was preceded in death by his parents; Clarence and Cecile Matherne, brothers; Jake “J.C.” Matherne, Kirlin “Nookie” Matherne, Jerry “Pee-Wee” Matherne, Willie Matherne, Clarence “Buck” Matherne and Robert “Bobby” Matherne, sisters; Betty Zeringue, Verna “Noonie” Theriot, and Bernice “B” Falgout.
The Matherne family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at The Broadway Nursing and Rehab Center and Hope Hospice for the care and compassion given to their family during this difficult time.
