Firmin Paul Detillier Jr. (“Ta-Boy”), a native and resident of Mathews, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 3, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was 97 years old.
Visitation will be held from 9am until 11am on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at St. Hilary Catholic Church in Raceland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Tuesday, with burial following in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his children, Roseanna D. Adams (Delvin), Brian P. Detillier (Chasity), and Brandi D. Crawford (Christopher), daughter-in-law Rose Detillier; 15 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Firmin P. Detillier, Sr. and Josephine Guidry Detillier; spouses Lillie Mae St. Pierre Detillier and Theresa Lebouef Detillier; brothers Moise Detillier Sr., Carlton Detillier, Mabry Detillier, Webster Detillier, Sr., and Clifton Detillier; sisters Irene Molaison, Elfie “Faye” St. Pierre, Elizabeth Landry, Allie Knight, and Eloise Detillier; children Gregory Detillier, Mona Detillier, Timothy Detillier (Cindy), and Terrance Detillier.
“Ta-boy” was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was a parishioner of St. Hilary Catholic Church. He enjoyed LSU sports, gardening, and riding his bike. He never met a person with whom he couldn’t strike up a conversation. He will be sadly missed by family and all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Ochsner St. Anne Hospital and Hope Hospice for their care given. The family, also, would like to express their gratitude to Tamera Bergeron and the staff at the Broadway Elder Living and Rehab Facility for their kindness, loving care, and friendship during his stay there.
