Eugene L. Thomassie, 77, a native of Lockport and resident of Chackbay passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Holy Savior Catholic Church, in Lockport, on Thursday, January 14th at 11 am with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Due to covid-19 please wear a mask and abide with restrictions.
Eugene is survived by his wife of 56 years, Merrill Guidroz Thomassie; son, Jonathan Thomassie (Heather); grandson, Grady Thomassie; sisters, Gladys Callais (Curtis) and Catherine Melancon (Curtis).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Sr. and Gladys Guidroz Thomassie and brother, Clifton Thomassie, Jr.
Eugene proudly served in the U.S. Army and is a Vietnam Veteran. He was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star with Valor recipient. He was a member of the VFW Post #5097, American Legion Post #11, Knights of Columbus Counsel 8743 and was active with the United Veterans League.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Genevieve Catholic School at 807 Barbier Ave. Thibodaux, LA 70301.
