Ethel DeJean Hayes, 91, a native of Lutcher and resident of Des Allemands, died at 5:22 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011 in Destrehan.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Des Allemands. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with interment in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her children, R.J. Prevost and wife, Carol, H.J. Prevost III and wife, Beth, and Sandra Ellis and husband, Jimmy; stepmother of Neddy Sumners; and eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur "Chuck" Hayes; her parents, George DeJean Sr. and Virginia Duhe DeJean; one grandchild; and siblings, Harry, Roy, Melvin, George Jr., Dudley Sr., Percy Sr., Elwood DeJean Sr., Shirley Knott and Gloria Haydel.
She was a Pink Lady for St. Charles Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, Masses or donations to any charity in Ethel's name are preferred.
