Ernest J. Vedros, 77, a native of Mathews and resident of Lockport, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014.Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral time Monday at St. Hilary Catholic Church in Raceland. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Theoma Levert Vedros; daughters, Priscilla Vedros Waguespack and husband, Carl, and Michelle Vedros Foret and husband, Leon III; grandchildren, Leon Foret IV, Ashley Waguespack Bergeron and husband, Craig, and Aaron Waguespack; stepmother, Bella Vedros; sisters, Brenda Vedros, and Linda Vedros Landry and husband, Wallace; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Ida M. Vedros; brother, Lawrence Vedros; and sister, Rita Dufrene.He was an usher and Eucharistic Minister at St. Hilary Catholic Church, a Lockport Volunteer Fireman for 50 years, member of the Fire District Board, member of the American Legion Post No. 83 in Lockport, and a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Hilary, a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Kermit Trahan Council, and retired from Texaco after 25 years.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Hilary Catholic Church.Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of arrangements. - See more at:
