Ernest A. Thibodaux Sr.

October 8, 1923 — March 5, 2024

The Man, The Myth, The Legend, Mr. Ernest A Thibodaux Sr., known as Mr. T, gained his angel wings on March 5, 2024, in his home in Mt. Herman. He was born and raised down the bayou. He was the son of his late parents, Ackerson Thibodaux and Lucia Landry Thibodaux. He was cherished by many in his 100 years of life.
As a child, Mr. T was raised and worked on Clovelly Farms and proudly served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Knights of Columbus and the Lion’s Club. He owned and worked on the Saint Lucy shrimp boat he also owned and operated The Butte de Coquilles in Cut-Off. If he wasn’t at the Butte, you could find him fishing or hunting at Camp Montana in the back of Clovelly Farms. He was also a barber.
In 1946, he married his beloved wife, Odette Vizier, and together they raised three children: Ernest Thibodaux, Jr. (Susan), Suzanne Guidry (companion, Sammy) and David Thibodaux (Dana). Mr. T was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather the cornerstone of his family’s life.
Mr. T was predeceased by his loving wife, Odette, his parents, brothers, Leslie, Gary, Lloyd and Alvin Thibodaux and sisters, Earline Matherne and Doris Thibodaux.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories of his three children, his seven grandchildren, Stefanie, Lindsay, Timothy (Dawn), Tommy Jr., Douglas (Jennifer), Megan (Keith) and Patton. He also had thirteen great-grandchildren: Abigail, Gracie, Kacie, Brody, Finnley, Alex, Ackerson, Alijah, Trevin, Trevik, Olivia, Gemma, Alexia, two great-great-grandchildren, Baylor and Trevik Jr., brother, Melvin Thibodaux and sister, Esther Comardelle.
Mr. T was also predeceased by his longtime companion Hazel Hunter. Her children Randy and Terry and grandchildren Lauren, Betsy, Greg, Terry, Jr. Darcus, and Dallas were also dear to Mr. T.
A visitation to honor Mr. T’s life will be held at Falgout Funeral Home, in Galliano, on Tuesday March 12, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and will continue on Wednesday March 13, 2024 from 8:00 am until service time. A Religious Service will be held at 11:00 am at Falgout Funeral Home with burial in Cheramie Cemetery.
