Ernest J. Theriot, Jr.

Ernest “Ernie” Theriot, Jr., 73, a native and resident of Cut Off, passed away June 15, 2022. He has been a resident of The Oaks in Houma for the last three years.
No services will be held.
He is survived by his daughter Laci Igo Sowder (Jerry), his sisters Beverly Arabie and June Tregre (Earl), brother Perry Theriot (Karen), nephew Garrett Arabie (Jill), nieces Jennifer Walker (Scott) and Jamie Dick (Steven), extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Evelyn Matherne Theriot, ex-wife Paulette LeBlanc Theriot, brother-in-law Don Arabie, and nephew Gregory Arabie.
Ernie’s life work was on tugboats in the gulf, in Alaska, and on the Columbia River in Washington and Oregon. Ernie enjoyed writing and performing music. He produced several original CDs of his songs. He valued his time playing chess with his best friend, Davis Kieff. He has always loved drawing and created many works of art that he always gave away. He was an avid fan of the Saints and LSU football. He had a very liberal view of politics and let everyone know his thoughts in person, on social media, and radio.
Thanks are extended to all family and friends who helped during his illness. The family also sends thanks and gratitude to the many doctors and medical personnel at Terrebonne General and the staff at The Oaks.
Ernie will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
