Emelia "Mia" Lorraine Callais, 90, a native of Cut Off and a resident of Houma, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cut Off, LA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Tuesday with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her sons, Donald Callais (Mary), Ronald Callais (Joella), Scott Callais (Kim); grandchildren, Crystal Sampey (Ryan), Todd Callais (Michelle), Jordan, Anthony, Parker and John Callais; great grandchildren, Jared, Matthew and Marley Sampey and Riley Callais and sister-in-law, Margie Lorraine.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Harold J. Callais; parents, Emile and Alzina Lorraine; brother, Edville Lorraine, Sr. and sister, Elvina Lorraine.
Emelia was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Pope Pius X 1883 serving as a Regent for 2 years and Ladies Altar Society of Sacred Heart Church. She received the Bishops Medal in 1991 from Sacred Heart Parish. She was a Eucharistic Minister and brought Communion to the shut-ins as well as serving in other office positions through the years. She was also a member of Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 8538.
