Elaine Ruth LeBlanc Autin, a teacher, native and life-long resident of Houma, passed away suddenly and peacefully on the morning of Saturday, January 19, 2019. She would have been 99 soon, having been born on January 31, 1920.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Francis Cemetery II where she will join her husband, Arnold Autin who preceded her in death in early 2000.
She is survived by four sons, Arnold Jr., Donel Sr., David and Mark Autin, three daughters, Sybil Talbot, Barbara Autin and Carla Autin and by their children and their spouses and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her second child, Richard Autin preceded her in death as well as her parents and siblings.
After raising her eight children, she completed her college education at Nichols State University and taught in the Terrebonne Parish school system until her retirement. Elaine was known as a people person and enjoyed sharing ideas and memories with everyone she engaged.
