Edwis H. Callais, 84, a native of Galliano and resident of Cut Off passed away on Monday, May 16th, 2022.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, May 19th, 2022 from 10:00 am until service time. Funeral Mass will begin at 12 noon with burial following in the Church Cemetery.
Mr. Edwis is survived by his loving wife of 65 years: Barbara L. Callais; children: Reed Callais (Denise) and Nanette Bordelon (Don); grandchildren: Jordan Bordelon and Megi Callais; great grandchildren: Brady and Lainey Bordelon; sister: Adeline Constransitch (Chet); and sister-in-law: Adeline “Manu” Callais.
Mr. Callais was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Lucille A. Callais; brothers: Howard Callais, Clarence Callais, and Carl Callais; and sisters: Ella Mae Rodrigue, Vergis Ledet, and Earline Callais.
Mr. Edwis was greatly involved in his community and one of the founding fathers of and former president of the Cut Off Youth Center, a volunteer member of the Cut Off Fire Dept., and founder of Callais Fruit and Vegetable Market and later Callais Office Supply. He lived to fish and spend time with his family and friends.
