Edwin Paul Cheramie, 85, a native of Galliano and resident of Larose, died at 4:25 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at KC Hall in Larose. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Larose, with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cut Off.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hilda Verret Cheramie; two sons, Clyde Jason Cheramie, and Jasper Joseph Cheramie and wife, Nonie, all of Larose; daughter, Edwina C. Koen and husband, Mike of Hardin, Texas; sister, Nefta C. Galliano; eight grandchildren, April K. Spurlock and husband, Johnny, Joli K. Sellers and husband, Jeremy, Jean Paul Koen and wife, Kate, Jennifer C. Ordoyne and husband, Casey, Jason Paul Cheramie, Emilie A. Cheramie, Naomie N. Cheramie and Beau J. Cheramie; and seven great-grandchildren, Jade, Layla, Kali, and Elese Spurlock, Ava Sellers, and Westin and Natalie Ordoyne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Amedee and Aliska Schouest Cheramie; and sister, Rose C. St. Pierre.
He was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. He was a retired fisherman, oilfield boat owner who raised cattle and took pride in maintaining his property, and 4th degree Knights of Columbus, and member of Holy Name Society. He was very patriotic and always flew the American flag over his property in honor of all veterans.
